Essay Contest Gives Students Ages 8-17 a Chance to Voice Opinion about What Matters in Their Education
White Plains, NY, May 7, 2013 – eScholar, the leader in education data solutions to personalize education, has launched a writing contest, Make My Education Matter, a national initiative designed to give students a chance to voice their opinion about the relevance of their education. From now through May 31st, eScholar is accepting essays written by 8-17 year old students which answer the questions: Does your education matter to you? Why or why not?
“The Make My Education Matter writing contest is all about the students. To personalize education for every student and help them to achieve their individual goals, we have to make sure their education matters to them. When students feel engaged in their education, they have a higher chance of success,” said Shawn Bay, eScholar founder and CEO. “This contest offers a fun and exciting opportunity for students to think about their education in a way that is relevant to them and share their ideas. By expressing what matters to them when it comes to education, they are empowered to take a more active role in their personalized learning. We are certain that the essay entries will provide interesting insights and help us to understand some of the key drivers and motivators from the students’ perspectives.”
The entries will be judged by eScholar team members based on four criteria: originality, clarity, thoughtfulness, and overall quality. The winning entries will be selected from two different age groups, 8-12 and 13-17. eScholar will award each winner a new iPad Mini. Submissions for the writing contest will be accepted until May 31st. Approved submissions will be published at www.eScholar.com.
