eScholar’s Shawn Bay to Present at 2012 Education Datapalooza

MyData Initiative Represents a Call to Action to the Education Community and Opportunity to
Further Personalize Education

White Plains, NY, October 9, 2012 – eScholar, a leader in driving the application of research and data to personalize education, today announced its CEO and Founder Shawn Bay will present at today’s 2012 Education Datapalooza. Hosted by the White House and U.S. Department of Education, Datapalooza showcases the best and brightest new applications from education’s private sector that are fueled by open data.

eScholar has received increased recognition because of its expanding footprint in education and its delivery of a production-ready solution, eScholar myTrack™ that harnesses data provided by the MyData Button and other sources to help individual student’s identify, track and achieve their academic goals. Shawn’s perspective will be from the individual student and share with the audience the challenges that students face, the impact of MyData, as well as highlight the use of eScholar myTrack within their daily routine.

The introduction of MyData Button coincides with the education market’s shift to personalize education and further utilize the widely accepted Common Core Standards. Historically, the use of data within education has been for accounting and compliance purposes at the district and state level. However by encouraging open access to a student’s own data, the education market can innovate to better support the goals of each student.

“Education has always been about personal understanding and helping students achieve their dreams,” said Shawn Bay, CEO and founder of eScholar. “The adoption of MyData to provide students the ability to use their own data will support innovation that no one company could foresee.”

eScholar myTrack is well ahead of the game in supporting the individual student . Developed in conjunction with educators, eScholar myTrack is a collaborative platform on which administrators, teachers, support staff, students and parents are presented with an individualized and holistic view of a student’s progress across their entire education career. Parents and educators using the eScholar myTrack solution gain a better understanding of the student, their unique needs, deficiencies, and possible areas of improvement based on current and historical information. Building upon eScholar’s expertise in the collection of student data, eScholar myTrack aligns today’s education process to help students achieve their specific, unique goals.

Datapalooza is a follow-up event to this year’s Data Jam, which was held in Washington D.C. in June. Special guests at this year’s Datapalooza event include U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park and Assistant Deputy Secretary for Innovation and Improvement at the U.S. Department of Education Jim Shelton.
